Our story (abridged)
Ah, the spark of romance! Let me set the scene: Summer was in full swing, the nation was trembling in fear of the Zika virus (oh, those were the days); and Tanzi was about to walk into a new job 900 miles from home and meet the man of her dreams. Tall, handsome, refined —well, two out of three ain't bad.

Now, you might think that the production department at the Park Record would be a deeply unromantic place to meet your future wife. You'd be wrong. Tanz walked in and suddenly birds were singing, harps were playing, a breeze lifted the leaves of the aspens outside the great arches window, and the golden glow of Elysium lit her up like a goddess of myth.

Presented so unexpectedly with such beauty, it took me a while to pluck up the courage to ask for a date. So, 10 months after meeting, we went bowling. Some free advice: bowling is a bad first date if it's just the two of you. You’re always dancing past each other, hurriedly flirting and/or trash talking, like members of rival power-walking groups at a singles retirement home.
Anyhow, bowling didn't go great. Tanzi spent a couple of months considering the matter, while I workshopped better date ideas. When she decided to give us another shot, I played the foolproof “Have you met my dog?” card, and hey-presto! We were off to the races!

Since then, seven or so years have passed like sweet little days, and we’ve had adventures that would make Odysseus hang up his oars. We lived a medium-distance relationship for a long time, and it taught us to hold on to the moments we do have together. We’ve traveled and come home, we’ve fought and made up, we've gotten sick and gotten better, we’ve pushed and pulled each other like the moon and the sea, we’ve changed jobs and houses and pant sizes, we've survived Covid (and Zika!) together and every single day we learn from each other and we love each other. Some days a little more, some days a little less, but the trend is always upward.

In 2021, we moved in together in Park City, and then in 2023 we won an actual, literal lottery to buy a house in town. We are so lucky to wake up every day in our own home in a wonderful place, and even luckier to wake up every day next to each other.

Then, in October of 2023, I broke in to the Park Record offices, chased away a few loitering journalists, and laid out a beautiful candlelit dinner in the production department. Proposing a new beginning in the place where it all began. Unfortunately, when I blindfolded her to begin the surprise proposal - she recognized the building by the smell of newsprint. Not a good omen. Luckily, she still said yes. Now we’re setting out to affirm our commitment to each other and celebrate the life we’ve built, together with all of the people who helped us build it.

Oh, and we got a dog.
Plan Your Trip
Traveling by Car
You can access Big Cottonwood Canyon Road from the Salt Lake Valley, the Heber Valley, or Park City. From any direction it's a beautifully winding mountain road, so drive safely and pull over if you want to look at the aspens.
By Plane
Salt Lake International
Bring your walkin' shoes, it's a big terminal.
By Boat
Big Cottonwood Creek
Unfortunately, the Great Salt Lake is a terminal lake. Any river passage will require a portage.

We are so grateful you've come to celebrate with us. Each and every one of you has given us an incredible gift just by being here, and the time we get to spend with all of you is the (second) best thing about this day. If you feel that a small tree would make us more likely to look back fondly on our time together, by all means, take a look at this list!

We'll love you either way.
Dress Code & Colors
It's September in the high country! That means beautiful views, but also a chill in the air and weather that can turn on a dime. We want you to wear something that keeps you comfortable, classy, and practical. Hiker formal, in short. Reach for your nicest puffy vest. Reach for your bolo tie and your colorful fleece. Reach for your floral print skirt and your hiking boots.
